We are origionally from the United Kingdom and 5 years ago we dared to think what many people think when they visit another country....'what would it be like to actually live here' Having only a few ties in London, like a successful business, family, mortgages and other commitments, we embarked upon the journey of our lives. La Dolce Vita......

 

Once the business was sold, the two houses were gone, family had been told, we were off! We spent a whole year looking at every farmhouse in the middle of Italy that was for sale...and a few that weren't but we came back to the very first house we saw ...Pietramonti (which means Stone Mountain in Italian). We had originally been told that it was impossible to do anything but refurbish the house because the Val D'Orcia is a National Park. However there was a way that we could get round it all. It involved a lot of time and money to get the relevant permissions and after another two years we sat there with a piece of paper saying we could finally create our Casa Padronale (a land owners house).

 

So that is how it all happened - with a whole lot of pain, laughter, worry and excitement along the way. The local authority said 'yes - you can build what you want' one day and then 'no' the next, the builder....now there's a few stories...., the friends we gained along the way! Really we have a lot of stories to be shared over dinner from the outside oven, they all flow out.

 

So come and join us, we have wonderful ensuite rooms, breathtaking, stunning views from the rooms and from the sun terraces and garden. We are about to complete the new pool which has an infinity view of the whole of the D'Orcia Valley and is made from hand made mosaic tiles complete with a massing waterfall and seats for you just to sit, think, relax and talk with new friends.

 

Several of our Guests who have joined us so far have made the comment that Pietramonti is 'Heaven on Earth' we wont judge that one, but for us, this is the only place to come to in Tuscany.
